This started because I was curious about a handful of directors & was trying to keep track of their projects... then it just turned into a test of my memory (& actually didn't take very long & I keep suddenly remembering movies I completely forgot about). ( Movies )

The Charles B. Aycock statue has a skullcap to match his vogue!

I was walking along a canal in Amsterdam earlier this week & saw this boat across the quay, which appeared to be crawling with cats. When I got to its doorstep/dock, I was invited to come and just sit in the middle of this long, low boat housing upwards of 25/30 cats. It is De Poezenboot (the Catboat): a cat shelter/clinic/adoption center. It was lovely, so I had to share. There is an English version of the site (not to insult anyone’s intelligence): click on the tiny Union Jack.

Also, the last poster reminded me of this vending machine I saw in Barcelona last November. If you can’t tell, it sells small novels/novellas while you’re waiting for the metro! Genius!

Found biscuit tray in a [barθe’lona] trashpile!
"Magallanica Sive Terra Australis Incognita" Printed on the tray is Ferdinand Magellan's (Fernão de Magalhães) rendition of the world, published posthumously: ca. 1639. His cartography is very disproportionate to today's maps of the world (for example, California is nearly prostrate - he got quite sloppy when he made his way over to the west coast of North America). ( Help me with the Latin on this! ) Also found (& un-pictured) in the same evening of trash-rifling: - A dish set made of cut glass. - The strangest decanter I've ever seen (the fluted pouring bit could probably only be cleaned with a pipe cleaner)! - A complete POG set with a Marge Simpson slammer!

Found in gutter, after having been run over, in southern Ireland. What a rotten talisman:

I was walking home from class a few days ago and saw a playing card face down on the street, and as I'm sure many of you would also do: see found object, pluck it up. Of all cards to be on their lonesome, freshly run-over, I get the Suicide King! ( the King of Hearts across history. )
